Throughout the 1990s and well into the 2000s the publication would go onto produce anniversary concerts that grew in size from clubs to the Universal Amphitheater and the talent hire became much more established (La Ley, Jaguares, Maldita Vecindad, etc, etc)
Pero en algún lugar tenían que empezar and this was the first anniversary gig with LÁ own María Fatal, Juana La Loca(then Pastilla), and Los Olvidados. Plus, Tijuana’s own Artefakto (whose members Pepe Mogt, Jorge Ruiz, and Roberto Mendoza then created the Nortec Collective) and Miza de Gallo from la ciudad del calorón thermonuclear, Mexicali.
The title of the production entity might have political allusions, particularly to the “aperture demócratica being sought out in Mexico in the 1990s.
What is also interesting is that the flyer looks much more like a rave, tecno flyer than a Rock en Español pamphlet. Plus, there’s not address included. ¿Habrá sido en una bodega?
