- Check out this amazing flyer created by @maritzatorresart for this upcoming event at CSU Channel Islands. Entitled: DIY ‘Zines and the Los Ángeles Latinx Landscape. Along with arthistorian Marissa del Toro and zinester Ziba Perez Zehdar (Long Beach Zine Fest), we will talking the history and the present of Latinx zines.
Please save the date as I will part of this very interesting panel on ‘zines in Latinxs Los Angeles along with art historian Marissa del Toro and zinester Ziba Perez Zehdar (Long Beach Zine Fest). I will be discussing the important and still under looked history of youth culture publishing via transnational zines and magazines such as La Pusmoderna, La Banda Elástica, Al Borde, La Neta, among maaany others that have circulated between Southern California and Latin America. Also, there will be an exhibit of zines and flyers, particularly 1990s Rock Latino flyers for tocadas that went down in Oxnard/Ventura.
This is happening on September 6 at 4pm at the CSU Channel Islands Library.
