A show on a Wednesday with a French band with former members of Mano Negra, Border Spanglish Funk-metal hip-hop from Tijuana, punkrockdisco, and an early set of Bilingual psychobilly? Sure! The Anti-Club was an (in)famous punk venue that carried on the legacy of the OG underground punk not only in its sonic offering, but also in its welcoming all-ages policy that also fostered into (at times) being a sanctuary for gender non-conformists folx y demás fauna urbana. The line for this middle-of-the-week-it’s-a-school-night-but-who-cares featured Marousse (¡kropol!), Mexican Jumpin’ Frijoles, Las 15 Letras & Calavera. The shou was produced by One America Productions o sea by el big papa himself, the legendary Marco (Negrete) Aldaco. Wednesday July 3rd, 1996 on the last Anti-Club address on Melrose Avenue, the part that people call “east Hollywood” but was also close to “Virgil Village” (That’s would be a nod to @thissideofhoover check out this IG account about the gentrification of the area). ????: @la.skandalosa ¡Gracias! #anticlub #OneAmericaProductions #marousse #las15letras #mexicanjumpingfrijoles #tijuana #calavera #rocklatino #rockangelino #melroseavenue #easthollywood #1996 #rockarchivoLA
