- It’s Viernes 13 today. So, in honor of the day that gave the South Gate hailing band its name, here’s The One Shot records Sampler for 2001 that includes “Bailando con la muerte.” This track was one of Viernes 13’s first underground anthems. One Shot Records was a brief, but seminal label based in South East LÁ. Yet, in its during its way too brief run, it managed to create a musical, punk infused bridge between Tijuana, the South Bay (Wilmas and Pedro), S.E.L.A. and the Greater Eastside with the releases of albums by bands like Los Kung Fun Monkeys (TJ), Left Alone (Wilmington), Teenage Rage (East Los), Snap-her (Led by Lisafer the Queen Bitch of Rock & Roll), Los Creepers (NorthEast LÁ), in addition to South Gate’s own Schizm and Viernes 13.
