For some reason this 1993 flyer has been one of my favorites. I don’t know if it was the material used ( a ticker cardboard type of paper) or the image of Sor Juana with bulging eyes. Either way, this tocada included LÁ’s darlings Juana La Loca (Pastilla) and one of Tijuana’s most original, yet unheraled bands: Los Mexican Jumpin’Frijoles who fused Spanglish hip-hop, punk, and funk waaay before any Latin American band ever did. This happened (25 yeasrs ago!!!) at a “Guitarra Quadrada” then a billiard hall that doubled up as a nightclub in East Hollywood that is now an upscale car dealership. #juanalaloca #mexicanjumpingfrijoles #easthollywood #sunsetboulevard #losangeles #tijuana #rockangelino #1993 #rockarchivoLA
