From 1992 to 1994, the Hong Kong Low Café became one of the most vital venues (y también de las pocas) for Rock Angelino.
Every Friday, “El Low” was packed with rockeros/as earger to listen to LÁ bands and everyonce in a while the visit of a band from México. Aquí estaba anunciado Neón que al parecer nunca llegó a LÁ. This gig was put together by Rock A la Vuelta de La Esquina, the name of the production outfit led by Patty Hernández.
This is the flyer (probably designed by Emilio Morales) for a January 1992 tocada with Los Reos (a band whose members hailed from Uruguay and México), and Los Olvidados. ¡Sólo $5!
Check out the very detailed map, that hints at the importance of maps for the 1990s rockeros, many of them recent migrants who were able to traverse and get acquainted to the maze of streets and communities that is Los Ángeles by attending tocadas in ‘hoods like Chinatown.
