Check this out! Ticket and flyer for what much have been one of the first (if not the first) Ska Wars Festival produced by Evokore shared by @meta_morphin4skin Thanks! This event with more than 15 bands took place INSIDE the Knitting Factory, which at the time had a capacity of no more than 1,000 people. One can only imagine how packed, boiling, and “scented” the venue was! The now iconic Ska Wars Festival featured plenty of SoCal heavy weights bands such as La Resistencia, La Banda Skalavera, Red Store Bums, Raskahuele among others. In addition, it had some Baja California outfits such as Los Kung Fu Monkeys (Tijuana) and No Moral (Mexicali). Most significantly, this fest featured Germany’s own Wisecräcker. The band has long been interested in merging their German brand of ska with Latino sounds and developed an lengthened relationship the Mexico, Colombia, and Souhtern California scenes. Plus, for much of the 2000s, Wisecräcker members also managed Übersee Records, which had the foresight to release the German edition of many of Latin American’s foremost ska/fusion bands (Panteón Rococó, Desorden Público, Caramelo Santo, etc, etc), as well as some compilations that included Alta/Baja bands such as La Plebe, Almalafa, Tokadiscos, Chencha Berrinches, La Resistencia among others. Did you go to this 2008 Ska Wars? To how many Ska Wars have you been?
