Here’s then teenager Yvonne Drazan just chilling with Zeta Bosio (Soda Stereo) and Rock Español giant Miguel Ríos. Also, back there one can see Soda’s drummer, Charly Alberti and his copete. Oh you know just Yvonne, a girl from Monterey Park hanging out backstage all casual with the biggest Iberoamerican rock acts of the 1980s, no big deal. ????????Auditorio Nacional, Ciudad de México. Septiembre 30, 1989. As discussed throughout earlier post in this account (scroll, scroll!), the women of Club Rock en Español C.R.E.E.) were absolutely essential for the growth of the genre “Rock en Español” genre (o como ustedes lo quieran llamar). Founded by Yvonne and Flora Rae Tapia as a mere fan club to get in touch with their favorite bands, Yvonne, Flora and then Alma soon became the connection between Latin American bands and a growing audience in Southern California and then the U.S. All from their living rooms in Monterey Park and Bell/South Gate! Yes, they still lived at home, but oh weekends they would take a flight down to Guadalajara or DF(Now CDMX) to check out concerts by Soda, Caifanes, Maldita, etc, etc. that at the time one could only dream to have in LA. In time, the girls would expand from supporting the bands to producing their own shows.
