In September 30, 2001, I put together this festival I called Mondo Ska as it featured bands from all over the globe: East L.A. Sabor Factory, Almalafa (Tijuana), Wisecräcker (Alemania), Un Kuartito (Argentina) and King Changó de los Nuyores. It has been one of the most solid and transnational line-ups I had in a concert. While well-attended, it was not a full house as it took place a mere couple of weeks after 9-11 and peeps were in no mood to go out much. Nonetheless, it was a true pleasure to work with Latin Ska pioneers: Blanquito Man and King Changó. Let’s forward to the present as @blanquitomanoficial (José Andres Blanco) is dealing with a very aggressive type of cancer and him and his family need our support. Look up his page on GoFundMe: blanquitomancancer and consider contributing what you can. @implacable #blanquitoman #kingchango #wisecracker #eastlasaborfactory #almalafa #unkuartito #losangeles #hollywood#theroxy #ska #latinska #skapunk #2001 #implacable #rockangelino #rocklatino#rockenespañol #rockarchivoLA
