“Primer reventón subterráneo de Rock en Español.” This flyer was likely designed by Emilio Morales from @labandaelastica for one of the first Rock Angelino shows at the at Macondo Espacio Cultural on Melrose in East Hollywood in 1992. Macondo was volunteer-run community arts center that featured art performances, punk hardcore shows, and also rock en español, trova latinoamericana. This flyer is filled with interesting details, besides announcing the performances of María Fatal and Ley de Hielo, there is a phrase of an María Fatal song in the spiral (Dago) and the invitation for the show to be “un viaje a la(s) experiencia total de los sentidos.” Most amusingly, the entrance was only $4 with the flyer! For many of the Rock Angelino early gigs, there was a need to make the shows “all ages.” This in the tradition of punk shows. Being an all-ages show ensured a broader audience of teenagers and youth adults that had yet to reach the minimum legal age to be admitted in at a club. IMost importantly, all-ages events did not require attendees to present state-issued identification. Forgoing this requisite for admission, permitted the admittance and participation of attendees whose unauthorized or uncertain migratory status barred them from possessing U.S. issued government identifications to prove their legal age. Lastly, this April 1992 gig happened on the weekend before the L.A. Riots!!! ???? by @eyeone_sh thanks for sharing!
