This is flyer shared by @candohando (Thanks!) for one OG punk show at The Allen in 2004 with The Skeptix, a Stoke on Trent band that was part of the first 1970s UK punk wave along The Fits, GBH, etc, etc. They reunited in the early aughts and for their 2004 West Coast Tour the band included a stop in South Gate.
Here's a quick write-up on the Allen Theater show by "Brian GTA" posted on The Skeptix website. "The [2004] West Coast leg of the Skeptix/Neon Maniac tour kicked off at the Allen Theatre
in South Gate,a mostly Latino 'burb of Los Angeles. The Allen is a large old theater with ample seating as well as a sizable standing/dance area up front and the staff were fairly friendly(and the security did not appear to be heavy handed).
The Neon Maniacs were up and for those not in the know this is a newer band with the aforementioned vocalist/bassist Gnat (Puke N Vomit Records), as well as guitarist Anthony, and drummer Candice. The Maniacs played a tight set of '77 UK meets '80 Southern California punk; energetic, solid, and catchy.
The Skeps went off with a great big bang for the first set of their tour and the crowd there to see them did not want them to leave the stage." #TheSkeptix #UKpunk #NeonManiac #TheAllenTheater #SouthGate #punk #2004 #rockarchivoLA
