Lengua de Oro was the production name that Linda Crespo used to book shows at Sunset Strip Venues in the mid-1990s. Lengua de Oro’s shows commonly featured LÁ acts alongside Tijuana bands, which fostered the exchange between the Rock Angelino and the Tijuana scene. Linda would go on to become road manager for a several bands among them Jaguares. The Lengua de Oro shows were invariably on Sundays. This as Sundays were the cheapest day of the “weekend” when to book shows at the Sunset Strip. Here’s flyer for a Lengua de Oro show with: Motita (aka los mocosos de Maywood, who then moved to Victorville), Verdadera Fe New Wave from South Gate, Mala Konducta and Nessie from Tijuana. Nessie was even featured in a 1997 L.A. Times article, in which frontman Eliot Garcia stated that he learned English from "Batman" reruns, this as Nessi “sang Spanglish rock anthems about police brutality, drug-related violence and the O.J. media circus. His Tijuana band, Nessie, has already cracked Los Angeles' Whisky nightclub and MTV Latino.” —Anne-Maria O’Connor. “ Emergence of a Hybrid Culture“ LA. Times April 29, 1997.
