Here’s a video from one of the most seasoned *cough, cough veterans* ska bands from East Los: Ekolekua. The name is colloquial Mexican Spanish, o sea slang for exactly. The band has been around since 2006 or so. This is from one of the performances at the quad with the squad at the famed Garfield High School in East Los Angeles in 2008. Btw, Garfield HS has a place in LÁ history for being one the first five schools where Chicana/o students walked out to demand equal and quality education in 1968. These East L.A. Walkouts soon spread to other schools and were one of the ignitors of the Chicano Movement. Garfield was also the school where math teacher Jaime Escalante taught. Yeskalante, eeerr digo Escalante's work with "at-risk students," inspired that one 80s movie, “Stand and Deliver.” • ????What you Cine it? Mean…have you seen the movie?
