In August 1999 (¡Gulp! 19 years ago!) I had the chance to co-interview Gustavo Cerati for his solo album and indisputably his best work, “Bocanada.” It was an enriching hour-long conversation with Octavio Hernández as the co-interviewer. But really, let’s be honest here: the always effusive Octavio was the lead of the convo. It was definitely an remarkable talk, of course. But I’d never would have imagined how much I learned during that interview a tres voces about Latin American Contemporary Music (or Rock En Español, or Latin Alternative or whatever you want to call it!) even almost 20 years later. I just realized this as I recently cited Cerati’s statements from this interview in one of my dissertation chapters. ????
Anyhow, if you are interested in checking out the whole interview I’ll have the link in the bio up this week. ??
