Voz de Mano was one of the first Rock Angelino groups and also one of the most prolific of the 1990s/2000s. The first VDM incarnation dated back to 1989 with co-founders Tony Estrada and Roberto Corrales getting together and jamming in the basement of a Huntington Park church. By 1994 the band had solidified its lineup and finely crafted electro-pop sound with was rounded up with some skillful percussions. VdM released two full-length albums: Ruta/Sátelite (1997) and Polen (2001) in addition to a self-titled CD demo with about 12 songs in 1995. Now, the name of the band is Voz De Mano, not to be confused with Voz de Mando, the regional Mexican outfit that also hails from South East L.A. Anyhow, you can check out Voz de Mano’s songs on Spotify for a change! Here’s a snippet of one Voz De Mano performance at the former Leonardo’s on Pacific in Huntington Park from April 1997. You’ll notice that the banner behind the band has the artwork for their first CD demo. The whole performance video is available on (@djtonyokay) Tony Estrada’s YouTube channel. #vozdemano #vdm #huntingtonpark #southeastlosangeles #sela #rockangelino #rocklatino #latinamericanorock #latinalternative #rockenespañol #rocklatinoamericano #losangeles #1997 #rockarchivoLA
