Here’s a segment of María Fatal’s “Por Ella.” María Fatal’s lyrics became much more politicized during the 1994 as the result of the anti-immigrant rhetoric fueling the Proposition 187 campaign, this according to MF’s singer Fernando Ramírez. The band released self-titled album in 1995 that included several protest songs. In addition, they filmed a video for the song “Por Ella” (for Her) which is a sort of homage to the city engendered as a woman, in which the band juxtaposes their performance with footage of pro-immigrant demonstrations and the student walk-outs that took place in 1994 with footage of the Chicano Moratorium march of August 1970. #laspampas #laiguana #southgate #sela #downtownla #downtownlosangeles #southeastlosangeles #fernandoramirez #mariafatal #studentwalkout #proposition187 #chicanomoratorium #aztlanrecords #rockangelino #rocklatino #rockenespañol #latinalternative #losangeles #1995 #rockarchivoLA
