- This is the flyer for Rice N’ Beans record release party in February 2000. Rice N’ Beans were punk/skaish band composed of Asian and Latino members, hence the name of the band that alludes to the members mixed racial identities through food.
The gig also included Bankarrota, Los Tumbados, Nuevo Xol, Esperma Rebelde, and Voodoo Click. This all went down at Mr. T’s Bowl in Highland Park.
At the time, Mr. T’s was scruffy joint that hosted some fierce punk/ska shows in the 2000s. This Mr. T’s Bowl of the 1990s and 2000s is NOT to be confused with that “renovated” hipster craft cocktail serving spot that now sits in that same spot, but that merely offers up a fictitious tale of a luxurious “vintage” bowling alley in H.P.
