- This photo is evidence of an epic meeting/conversation among some of the most brilliant Rock Latinoamericano (y Las Espanyas) creative minds that took place in Los Angeles in the mid 1990s.
Facilitated by La Banda Elástica, this encuentro included members of La Barranca, Café Tacuba (México), Os Paralamas (Brasil), Girasoules (Valencia, Països Catalans, estado español puesm), Los Rabanes (Panamá) y Los Olvidados de Los Ángeles.
The site was a packed sci-fi joint called Nova Express Café on Fairfax Avenue during the summer of 1996 and LÁ was the logical meeting point as during that time, it was the crossroad/epicenter for most of the so-called rock en español artists who landed in LÁ to record or promote their new albums.
The fascinating conversation went on for hours as each musician discussed the particularities of their own countries scenes and since this was a moment of effervescent promise for the music genre, the dreams and aspirations to become a global genre. Now if only someone had a recording of the event… ¡Mil gracias a @miguel_jimenez_lujan por la foto!
