Here’s flyer for one of Las Noches del Dragón shows. This was a monthly series of concerts produced by La Banda Elástica that were held at some of Hollywood’s most storied venues. It was originally housed at The Club Dragonfly on Santa Mónica Blvd as these monthly shows began there in 1997. (Hence, the name of the series, although dragonfly translates to libelula and well as a name it doesn’t have that much punch, right? But I digress.) By 1998, Las Noches del Dragon were an itinerant showcase around LÁ and boasted the sponsorship of some big name brands such as Levy’s, Kenwood, Heineken, and many others. Thus, signally the hype around “Rock en Español” at the end of the 20th century. This concert featured Mexico City’s La Castañeda (que en esos tiempos amenazan por retirarse, estamos en el 2019 y ¡siguen tocando!), Sol D' Menta (Puerto Rico), along with underground darlings Humanoide Secta, and LÁ faves ¡Viva Malpache! and Chencha Berrinches. July 2000. • ??????????????????????????Did you go to one (or many) of Las Noches del Dragon? ???????? • ????: @dondiavlo ¡gracias por compartir el acervo de Chencha Berrinches!
