In time, La Banda Elástica became a full-fledged magazine printed in full color as it broadened its focus from Los Angeles to include articles and reviews on bands and albums coming out of different cities in Latin America. By the second part of the 1990s, La Banda Elástica became one of the most renowned Rock en Español magazines of the 1990s, in the U.S. and Latin America where the publication circulated through different formal and informal circulation networks. So much so that in 1995, The U.S. based music magazine Spin, named La Banda Elástica among one of the items in the “Future of Rock” music for the 21st Century. When La Banda Elástica began to reach a larger and more international audience the publication devoted its central pages to emerging bands in Latin America. Here’s the a 1997 LBE cover and feature page dedicated to Aterciopelados from Colombia. #labandaelastica #aterciopelados #AndreaEcheverri #rockenespañol #RockLatino #rockcolombiano #LosAngeles #1997 #rockarchivoLA
